PAG-ASA Public Weather Forecast - Typhoon Agaton Update (January 19, 2014)

Issued at 5:00 pm. today, January 19, 2014, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAG-ASA) forecasts that the Tropical Depression "AGATON" has slowed down while maintaining its strength and was estimated based on all available data at 215 km Southeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur or at 220 km East of Davao City with maximum winds of 55 kph near the center and it is forecast to move Southwest at 5 kph.

Issued at 5:00 pm. today, November 11, 2013, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAG-ASA) forecasts that at 4:00 p.m. today, the location of Tropical Depression "ZORAIDA" was located based on all available data at 634 km Southeast of Hinatuan (5.8°N, 131.5°E).

Forecast:

Mindanao and Eastern Visayas will be cloudy with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms. The rest of Visayas will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms. Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains.

Moderate to strong winds blowing from the Northeast will prevail over Luzon and and coming from the Northeast to North over Mindanao. The coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be with moderate to rough.

PAG-ASA Public Weather Forecast - Typhoon YOLANDA Update (November 8, 2013)

Issued at 5:00 pm. today, November 8, 2013, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAG-ASA) forecasts that at 4:00 pm today, the eye of Typhoon "YOLANDA" was located based on all available data including Mactan Doppler radar at 115 km west of Roxas City or over the water off the western coast of Antique (11.4°N, 121.7°E) with maximum sustained winds of 215 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 250 kph. It is forecast to move West Northwest at 40 kph.

Typhoon Yolanda with international name "Haiyan" continues to intensify as it traverses the west Pacific Ocean towards the Philippines Wednesday, November 6, and could be a very destructive super typhoon by the time it reaches land.

Issued at 5:00 pm. today, January 4, 2013, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAG-ASA) forecasts that at 4:00 p.m. today, the center of Tropical Storm ":AURING" was estimated based on all available data at 460 km southwest of Puerto Princesa City (8.6°N, 114.5°E) with maximum sustained winds of 75 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kph. It is forecast to move west at 20 kph. Intertropical convergence zone (ITZ) affecting Mindanao. Northeast monsoon affecting Northern Luzon.

 

Forecast:

Mindanao and Central Visayas will have cloudy skies with occasional light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms. Cagayan Valley will experience cloudy skies with light rains. Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy with brief rainshowers or thunderstorms.

Moderate to strong winds coming from the northeast will prevail throughout the archipelago and the coastal waters will be moderate to rough.

PAG-ASA Public Weather Forecast - Tropical Storm 'AURING' Update (January 3, 2013)

Issued at 5:00 pm. today, January 3, 2013, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAG-ASA) forecasts that at 4:00 PM today, Tropical Storm "AURING" was estimated based on satellite and surface data at 190 km Southeast of Puerto Princesa City (9.0°N, 120.4°E) with maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center. It is forecast to move West at 28 kph. Northeast Monsoon affecting Northern Luzon.

 

Forecast:

Palawan will experience rains with gusty winds. Visayas and Mindanao will have cloudy skies with moderate to heavy rainshowers and thunderstorms. Metro Manila, CAR, Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Bicol region will be cloudy with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms. Cagayan Valley and the province of Aurora will experience cloudy skies with light rains.

Issued at 5:00 pm. today, January 2 2013, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAG-ASA) forecasts that at 2:00 PM today, the Low Pressure Area (LPA) was estimated at 440 KM East of Mindanao (6.0°N, 130.5°E) embedded along the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) affecting Visayas and Mindanao. Northeast Monsoon affecting Northern Luzon.

 

Forecast:

Cagayan Valley and the provinces of Aurora and Quezon will experience cloudy skies with light rains. Eastern Visayas and the regions of Caraga and Davao will have cloudy skies with moderate to heavy rainshowers and thunderstorms which may trigger flashfloods and landslides. The rest of Visayas and Mindanao will be cloudy with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms. Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy skies with brief rainshowers or thunderstorms.

Moderate to strong winds coming from the northeast will prevail over Luzon and Eastern Visayas and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the northeast with slight to moderate seas.

Weather Advisory No. 1 For: Low Pressure Area Issued at: 11:00 AM, 02 January 2013

At 8:00 AM today, the Low Pressure Area (LPA) was estimated at 790 km East of Mindanao (6.0°N, 134.0°E). This weather disturbance is expected to bring moderate to heavy rains (2.5 - 10.0 mm/hr) and thunderstorms in Mindanao and the provinces of Samar and Leyte which may trigger flashfloods and landslides. Residents in these areas are advised to take all the necessary precautionary measures. The next update will be incorporated in the public weather forecast at 5:00 PM today while the next advisory will be issued at 11:00 AM tomorrow.

Forecast:

MIMAROPA and Western Visayas will experience rains with gusty winds. CALABARZON, Bicol Region and Eastern Visayas will have cloudy skies with moderate to heavy rainshowers and thunderstorms which may trigger flashfloods and landslides. The rest of Visayas and Mindanao will experience light to moderate rainshowers or thunderstorms. Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will be cloudy with light rains.

Classes Suspended in Dinagat Islands - February 16, 2012

Classes to pre-school and elementary schools are still suspended today, February 16, 2012 in the entire province of Dinagat Islands due to heavy rains.

The suspension of classes was actually started yesterday, February 15, 2012 until today as advised by PIO-Dinagat Islands through the recommendation of DOST-PAG-ASA since Alert Level is remain hoisted in the province. This is due to the heavy rains that occurred in 2 and more consecutive days brought by the Low Pressure Area (LPA) spotted in the a certain part of Mindanao.

All MDRRMCs are advised to continuously advocate proactive response for the safety of their constituents in their respective Area of Responsibility, PDRRMC-Dinagat Islands said.

At 2:00 am today, The Low Pressure Area (LPA) was estimated based on satellite and surface data at 100 km East of Southern Mindanao (7.0°N, 127.5°E).

Forecast that Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao will experience cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms becoming widespread rains over Bicol Region and Visayas which may trigger flashfloods and landslides. The rest of Luzon will be mostly cloudy with light rains.


Moderate to strong winds blowing from the Northeast and East will prevail over Northern Luzon and from the Northeast and Southeast over the rest of the country. The coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be moderate to rough.
