PAG-ASA Public Weather Forecast - Tropical Depression "Ramon" (October 10, 2011)



At 4:00 p.m. today, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAG-ASA) forecasts that  the Tropical Depression "Ramon" has maintained its strength as it continues to move in a Westward. It was estimated based on satellite and surface data at 560 km East Southeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur (7.5°N, 131.7°E).

Forecast:

Visayas and Mindanao will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms becoming cloudy with widespread rains over the Eastern section of mindanao which may trigger flashfloods and landslides. The rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.

Moderate to strong winds blowing from the East will prevail over Northern Luzon and its coastal waters will be moderate to rough. Light to moderate winds blowing from the East to Southeast will prevail over the rest of Luzon and coming from the Northeast to Northwest over the rest of the country. The coastal waters along these areas will be slight to moderate.

Strength:Maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center
Movement:West at 15 kph
Forecast Positions/Outlook:Tuesday afternoon:
260 km East of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur
Wednesday afternoon:
90 km East of Surigao City
Thursday afternoon:
In the vicinity of Bantayan Island or
100 km North of Cebu City

Residents in low lying and mountainous areas under signal # 1 are alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides.

The public and the disaster coordinating councils concerned are advised to take appropriate actions and watch for the next bulletin to be issued at 11 PM tonight.
