Miss World 2011 is Ivian Sarcos (Venezuela) - List of Winners

Miss World 2011 is Ivian Sarcos of Venezuela. The 61st edition of the Miss World pageant took place at the Earls Court Two in London on Sunday, November 6, 2011.

Alexandria Mills of the United States crowned her successor Ivian Sarcos of Venezuela at the end of the event. Gwendolyn Ruais of the Philippines was named First Runner-Up, while Puerto Rico's Amanda Vilanova was the Second Runner-Up.

Ivian Sarcos who beat out 112 other candidates is a twenty-one-year-old Human Resources graduate who currently works for a broadcasting company. Coming from a big family with 12 siblings, Sarcos plans to promote and work with children in the future. She loves volleyball, mountaineering and trekking. She believes that "everything arrives when it should."

“I believe that the next Miss World should be a woman of responsibility and reason," Sarcos answered during the competition.

“I believe the woman should be committed to the organization and help people in need. Beauty with a heart," she added.

Meanwhile, the 5’11” Filipino-French from Muntinlupa, Philippines Miss Gwendoline Ruais who made it to the pageant’s three fast track events – Top 20 in Beach Beauty, Top 20 in Top Model and Top 10 in Beauty with a Purpose (see related article here) was named First Runner-Up. Her inclusion in the said preliminaries earned for Gwendolyn enough points to enter the Top 30 quarterfinalists.

The Top 30 was trimmed down into 15 semi-finalists with Miss Puerto Rico at the top of the leaderboard. From the 15 semi-finalists, the panel of judges picked the Top 7 namely Miss England, Miss Korea, Miss Philippines, Miss Puerto Rico, Miss Scotland, Miss South Africa and Miss Venezuela.
