PAG-ASA Public Weather Forecast - Typhoon 'Quiel' (October 2, 2011)

At 4:00 p.m. today, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAG-ASA) forecasts that the Typhoon "QUIEL" has weakened as it moves farther away from the countryIts center is located based on radar, satellite and surface data at 370 km West Northwest of Baguio City (16.9°N, 116.4°E) with maximum sustained winds of 120 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 150 kph. It is expected to be 610 km West Northwest of Baguio City on Monday morning, October 3, 2011.


Meanwhile, a Low Pressure Area(LPA) was estimated at 740 km East of Visayas (12.0° N 133.0° E).

Forecast:


Luzon and Visayas will have mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms while, Mindanao will be partly cloudy to cloudy with with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.

Moderate to strong winds blowing from the Southwest to South will prevail over Luzon and Visayas and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate blowing from the South with slight to moderate seas.

Public Storm Warning Signals elsewhere are now lowered.

Typhoon "Quiel" enhances the Southwest Monsoon and brings rains over western section of Southern Luzon.

Meanwhile, The Low Pressure Area (LPA) was estimated at 740 km East of Visayas (12.0°N, 133.0°E).

The public and the disaster coordinating councils concerned are advised to take appropriate actions and watch for the next bulletin to be issued at 11 PM today.
