Its center is located based on radar, satellite and surface data at 150 km West of Baguio City (16.4°N, 119.0°E) with the maximum winds of 150 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 185 kph. It is forecast to move West at 26 kph and expected to be 690 km West Northwest of Baguio City on the evening of October 2, 2011.

At 4:00 p.m. today, the Eye of Typhoon "QUIEL" was located based on radar, satellite and surface data at 40 km West Northwest of Baguio City (16.5°N 120.3°E) with maximum sustained winds of 150 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 185 kph. It is forecast to move West at 26 kph.
Forecast:
Northern and Central Luzon will experience stormy weather while Southern Tagalog region will have rains with gusty winds. The western sections of Southern Luzon and Visayas will experience monsoon rains. The rest of the country will be mostly cloudy with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms.
Moderate to strong winds blowing from the Southwest will prevail over the rest of Luzon and Visayas and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough. Elsewhere, the winds will be light to moderate coming from the Southwest with slight to moderate seas.
