On
Monday, October 9, 2012, President Noynoy Aquino signed
the Proclamation No. 488 declaring Friday, October 26, 2012, as
a Regular Holiday throughout the country, in observance of Eidul Adha (Feast of Sacrifice).
Presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda announced that President Aquino
declared October 26 as a regular holiday through Proclamation No. 488, duly signed by the Executive Secretary Pacquito Ochoa.
The proclamation made through the recommendation of the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) that the observance of Eidul Adha be on 26 October 2012 and the Eidul Adha prayer be performed on the final declaration of the Saudi Government.
Eidul Adha or the Feast of Sacrifice is an important religious holiday
celebrated by Muslims across the globe to commemorate the willingness of
Ibrahim to sacrifice his son Isma'il as an act of obedience to God.
