A new set of winners emerged during the Dinagayang Festival 2012 held on January 22, 2012. The main part of the festival is the street-dancing where a number of “tribes”, called “tribus” (see list of tribes here),
who are supposed to be Ati tribe members, dance in celebration. All
dances are performed to drum music, with participants don on colorful
indigenous materials and body paints.
This year, the Tribu Pan-ay of Fort San Pedro National High School (FSPNHS), the grand champion of last year's competition and also champion of last
year's Aliwan Festival - The Philippines' Festival of Champions retained their crown being this year's Dinagyang Festival Champion. Its eagle-inspired costume and movements coupled with its masterfully
crafted rhythm received standing ovation from the audience, composed of
foreign and local tourists, at the main performance area at the Iloilo
Freedom Grandstand.
It also won minor awards for best in costume designer, best in musical director, best in music, best in choreography and best in performance. Its choreographer, Rommel Flogen, was declared the best. Each minor award is worth P10,000.
Meanwhile,won the grand champion prize in the “Kasadyahan” category held on Saturday, January 21, 2012. Both champion, tribu Pan-ay and Salakyan Festival will represent Iloilo during the Aliwan Fiesta 2012 in Manila on April of this year.
It also won minor awards for best in costume designer, best in musical director, best in music, best in choreography and best in performance. Its choreographer, Rommel Flogen, was declared the best. Each minor award is worth P10,000.

The Dinagyang
is a religious and cultural festival in Iloilo City, Philippines
held on the fourth Sunday of January, or right after the Sinulog In
Cebu and the Ati-Atihan in Aklan. It is held both to honor the Santo
Niño and to celebrate the arrival on Panay of Malay settlers and the
subsequent selling of the island to them by the Atis.
