It’s then official! The Guiness Book of World Records certifies that "The largest human cross was achieved by 13,266 participants at an event organized by the University of Sto. Thomas (Philippines) in Manila, Philippines, on 9 March 2011".
UST supersedes the previous record held by Norway as the largest human cross with 935 participants at the Oslo Opera House last year.
Although the actual turnout of participants was close to 20,000, the official count only recognized those who swiped their ID's both when entering and going out of the field, as relayed during the instructions. (Apparently, not everyone was keen to swipe on their way out) Nevertheless, the new record is set.
The certification confirming the world title was received by UST last August 10 The feat is now posted at the Guinness World Records' website under “Amazing Feats” and “Mass Participation” categories.
Congratulations Thomasians for such a great achievement!!!
