PAG-ASA Public Weather Forecast - Shallow Low Pressure Area (SLPA) at East of Mindanao (November 2, 2011)

At 2:00 p.m. today, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAG-ASA) forecasts that the Shallow Low Pressure Area (SLPA) was estimated based on satellite and surface data at 50 km South of Malaybalay, Bukidnon (7.5°N, 125.0°E) embedded along the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) affecting Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.

Here's the weather forecast issued by DOST - PAG-ASA for today, November 2, 2011:

Forecast:

Eastern and Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms becoming cloudy with widespread rains over Bicol region, Eastern Visayas and Mindanao which may trigger flashfloods and landslides. The rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening.

Moderate to strong winds blowing from the East to Northeast will prevail over Luzon and its coastal waters will be moderate to rough. Light to moderate winds blowing from the Northeast will prevail over Visayas and coming from the Southwest to Southeast over Mindanao. The coastal waters along these areas will be slight to moderate.

At 8 am today, The Shallow Low Pressure Area (SLPA) was estimated based on satellite and surface data at 200 km East Northeast of Davao City (7.5°N 127.5°E) embedded along the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) affecting Visayas and Mindanao while wind convergence affecting Luzon.

These weather systems will bring scattered rains over the archipelago becoming widespread over the Extreme Northern Luzon and Eastern Mindanao which may trigger flashfloods and landslides.

The next advisory will be issued at 11:00 am tomorrow.
