PAG-ASA Public Weather Forecast - Shallow Low Pressure Area (SLPA) at East of Mindanao (November 1, 2011)

At 2:00 p.m. today, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAG-ASA) forecasts that the Shallow Low Pressure Area (SLPA) was estimated based on satellite and surface data at 150 km East of Mindanao (8.0°N, 128.0°E) embedded along the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) affecting Visayas and Mindanao.

Forecast:

Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms becoming cloudy with widespread rains over Bicol region and Eastern Visayas which may trigger flashfloods and landslides. The rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening.

Moderate to strong winds blowing from the Northeast will prevail over Luzon and its coastal waters will be moderate to rough. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the East and northeast with slight to moderate seas.

Wind convergence affecting Southern Luzon and Visayas that will bring mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorm becoming cloudy with widespread rains over Bicol region and Eastern Visayas which may trigger flashfloods and landslides.

The next advisory will be issued at 11:00 am tomorrow.
