By Presidential Proclamation No. 479 to
honor more than 500,000 teachers nationwide. However, in the
Philippines Teachers' Day is actually celebrated in schools between the
months of September and October (mainly elementary and secondary
levels). Teachers are presented with orchid corsages by students.
Groups of students representing various grade levels perform short
skits or song and dance numbers, or read poetry for their teachers in
front of fellow schoolmates in school-wide activities. These activities
are planned by senior students in the Student Council who coordinate
the activities well in advance.

2012 NATIONAL TEACHER'S MONTH AND WORLD TEACHER'S DAY CELEBRATION
The initiatives and successes of the Teacher's Month Campaign since 2008 were solidified when His Excellency President Benigno S. Aquino III signed Proclamation No. 242 on August 24, 2011 declaring the period from September 5 to October 5 of every year as the "National Teacher's Month". Accordingly, the Department of Education (DepEd) will celebrate the National Teacher's Month (NTM) during the whole month of September starting on September 5, 2012 and culminating on October 5, 2012, which is the World Teacher's Day (WTD). The theme of this celebration is "My Teacher, My Hero."
It
was stipulated in the memo that all schools and DepEd Offices are
required to post streamers to ensure that the communities are aware of
the TMC and WTD celebrations. The official streamer design and the official logo design are posted above (click each photo to enlarge):
