Philippine Educational Placement Test (PEPT) Schedule and Requirements (DepEd No. 204, s. of 2011)

DepEd Memo No. 204, s. of 2011:

ADMINISTRATION OF THE 2011 PHILIPPINE EDUCATIONAL PLACEMENT TEST (PEPT)

The Deaprtment of Education (DepEd) releases on September 7, 2011 the memorandum for the administration of the Philippine Educational Placement Test (PEPT) through the National Education Testing and Research Center (NETRC) that will be conducted on November 20, 2011 in Luzon and November 27, 2011 in Visayas and Mindanao pursuant to the DepEd Order No. 32, s. 2002.

In a press statement released through DepEd's official website, education secretary Armin Luistro said that PEPT will be administered to retrieve out-of-school youth (OSY) and place them in the formal school system.

“Through PEPT, we would validate and accredit knowledge and skills in academic areas gained through informal and non-formal means,” Luistro said, adding that the PEPT will eventually pave the way for the OSY's “re-entry into formal schooling, job promotion, job training and employment.”

Those who can avail of the test, DepEd noted, are dropouts from elementary and secondary schools for at least one year and those who never attended a formal school but can read and write, or those presently employed but need to upgrade their academic level whether elementary or high school.

Applicants must be at least one year over-age for their supposed grade/year level in the formal school system.
The following are the requirements being set by DepEd:
  • Original and two (2) photocopies of birth certificate issued and duly authenticated by the NSO or Local Civil Registrar
  • Two (2) pieces recently taken 1”x1” ID picture
  • Original and 2 photocopies of school record
Elementary: Form 137 (Transcript of Records with school seal and signature of principal/registrar) or Form 138 (Report Card with school seal and signature of principal/registrar)
      Secondary: Form 137
Testing Fee:
  • Regular test: P50 (November Schedule)
  • Walk-in or special administration: P200 (January to June at DepEd- NETRC, Pasig City)
DepEd also added that the PEPT can also be administered to individuals with visual impairment whether Braille or non-Braille readers.

The last day of registration shall be on October 14, 2011. In relation to this, the NETRC shall conduct an orientation-workshop on the administration of the PEPT. The date and venues shall be announced later according to DepEd.

To know the topics that shall be discussed in the said orientation-workshop, the authorized to attend this activity and the full content of DepEd Memo No. 204, s. of 2011, download a copy here.
