PAG-ASA Public Weather Forecast - Tropical Storm 'Quiel' (September 29, 2011)

At 4:00 PM Today, PAG-ASA forecasts that Tropical Storm "QUIEL" was estimated based on satellite and surface data at 1,040 KM East of Aparri, Cagayan (18.1°N, 132.8°E) with maximum sustained winds of 110 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 140 KPH. It is forecast to move West at 13 KPH.

At 4:00 PM Today, Tropical Storm "QUIEL" was estimated based on satellite and surface data at 1,040 KM East of Aparri, Cagayan (18.1°N, 132.8°E) with maximum sustained winds of 110 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 140 KPH. It is forecast to move West at 13 KPH.

Forecast:

Eastern Visayas and Mindanao will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms. The rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.

Moderate to occasionally strong winds blowing from the North to Northwest will prevail over Luzon and its coastal waters will be moderate to occasionally rough. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate blowing from the Northwest with slight to moderate seas.

Tropical Storm "QUIEL" has slightly intensified as it continues to move westward.

950 kms East of Aparri, Cagayan 
Coordinates:17.9°N, 131.7°E
Strength:Maximum sustained winds of 110 kph near the center
Gustiness of up to 140 kph
Movement:Forecast to move West at 17 kph 
Forecast Positions/Outlook:Friday evening:590 km East Southeast of Aparri, Cagayan
Saturday evening:130 km East Southeast of Aparri, Cagayan
Sunday evening:370 km West of Aparri, Cagayan

No Public Storm Warning Signals Raised

Tropical Storm "QUIEL" is still too far to directly affect any part of the country.


Estimated rainfall amount is from 15-25 mm per hour within the 300 km diameter 
of the tropical storm.


The public and the disaster coordinating councils concerned are advised to take
appropriate actions and watch for the next bulletin to be issued at 11 AM tomorrow.

Strong to gale force wind is expected to affect the Western and Northern seaboards of Luzon.
