GMA-7 and ABS-CBN Receive Awards from 2011 COMGUILD Awards


The 6TH ANNUAL CONFERENCE OF JOURNALISM AND MASS COMMUNICATION STUDENTS OF THE PHILIPPINES with its theme this year of “Important Contribution of Mass Media in Nation Building",” was held last August 7, 2011 at the AFP Theater, Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City.

COMGUILD Center for Journalism bestowed awards for this year's most prominent news program, anchors and reporters. Among the awardees were GMA-7's 24 Oras as the first ever Best News Program, Arnold Clavio as Best Entertainment Show Host for his program "Tonight with Arnold Clavio " in GMA News TV and Jiggy Manicad as Best Male Field Reporter for the 3rd time (see video here).  

Moreover, ABS-CBN's Bandila news anchor Karen Davila was awarded as the Best Female News Presenter while TV Patrol news anchor Ted Failon was recognized as the Best Male News Presenter and Sol Aragones as the Best Female Field Reporter.

COMGUILD CENTER FOR JOURNALISM is  an award-giving body that recognizes the exemplary work of local broadcasters and news presenters. The awards committee is composed of reputable deans and educators around the country.

More than 2,000 journalism and mass communication students from different colleges and universities nationwide were present during the awarding ceremony.
