Cinema One, the No.1 cable channel in the Philippines had its Cinema One Originals Awards night on Sunday night, November 13, 2011 at the RCBC Theater, RCBC Plaza Building, Ayala, Makati. The awards night was hosted by Miss Universe 2010 4th-Runner-Up Maria Venus Raj, TV5 star Alex Gonzaga and Showbiz Central regular host John "Sweet" Lapus.

Cinema One Originals Festival is the annual flagship event that started in 2005 of the cable channel, Cinema One to showcase the talents and diverse voices of the local independent cinema. These film projects are meticulously selected by a jury composed of representatives from the film industry and Cinema One.

“Brave, bold and original,” goes this year’s definitions of this year’s movie entries. The talents are also a mix of flag bearers and an emerging new breed.

Chosen through careful deliberation from hundreds of entries, this year’s ten finalists possess liberatingly out-of-the-box storytelling. They have potentials to make names for its filmmakers, directors, writers and actors through the local and even international arena. These movies are produced and owned by Cinema One cable channel and the Creative Programs, Inc.

The 7th Cinema One Originals Festival also takes much pride in its highly esteemed jury members, well known and distinguished in the film industry: directors Chito Rono and Chris Martinez, Manunuri members Nicanor Tiongson and Dr. Benilda Santos and Cannes Film Festival’s Director of the Film Department and Deputy to the General Delegate Christian Jeune.
